Jack White just announced that his record label, Third Man Records, will be offering music throughout the year on a subscription basis. He named this venture “The Vault”. It’s about $200 bucks a year, but before you choke - you will be receiving some pretty incredible treats. We’re pretty certain Jack will hold up his end of the bargain! His newish band The Dead Weather drop their debut record July 14th. Can Jack do no wrong? Full details here

As if 2008 wasn’t a big enough year for MGMT, 2009 has gotten even bigger.

Most know MGMT for the psychedelic pop chords found in songs such as “Kids.” Last week, The Flaming Lips confirmed that MGMT will be among the guests appearing on their next album, Embryonic. This comes after the announcement about MGMT opening two of Sir Paul McCartney’s shows at Boston’s Fenway Park in August. The Beatles legend told U.K. blogger Zoe Griffin earlier this month he likes MGMT and would like to work on “some more dancey stuff” with the band.

To top it off, MGMT recently dropped off a new music video for “Kids” that we’ve been enjoying. Click below to watch Joanna Newsom star as the worst mom ever who flees from monsters, goblins and more with her little tot, all while the band sports silver metallic spandex.

Think of this as a prelude to more extravagant things to come in the bands upcoming release, Congratulations, which is set to come out sometime in early 2010.

Make sure you check out Subterranean tonight for a brand new episode featuring Mason Jennings. Mason will cover an entire slew of topics including his new album Blood Of Man, some of his favorite new music, as well as his recent trip to Alaska. What was Mason Jennings doing in Alaska? if you know the answer leave it in the comments, otherwise tune in tonight in order to find out. Oh, and there will also be new music by: Chairlift, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, and Dinosaur Jr, (just to name a few). In the meantime check out this clip of Mason performing “The Tourist” from tonights episode for a little taste.

SubT favorites, Passion Pit, took some time from their ultra-busy dance schedule to discuss Table Manners, Burritos, Bubblegum and Lucky Charms.  Wonder if these dudes recommend dancing on a full stomach?

The unofficial official sound of summer at SubT Towers has suddenly turned into a two-horse race; while Phoenix’s absolutely unimpeachable “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” has the early lead, NYC/Sweden trio Miike Snow are challenging hard from the outside. They haven’t made a video yet but they recently droped into KCRW for a 2-song studio session where they ran through “Black and Blue” and “Song For No One”. The latter –in all it’s sun-drenched glory– is above and is the best Peter Bjorn & John song that they never did.
