We were just counting it up on our fingers and realized - the last new album from our beloved Spoon came out almost two years ago, way back in May 2005!
It may not seem that long since lead guy Britt Daniel contributed to the soundtrack of Stranger Than Fiction and the lovely Merge Records re-released Telephono and the Soft Effects EP, but the men of Spoon have truly been a long time gone.
Way back in 2005, when we were hobnobing (as Subterranean is sometimes known to do), Britt himself asked us which was our favorite track on Gimme Fiction. It has taken us two years, but we’re ready to commit. We choose “I Summon You”. As an added bonus, give a gander to a live performance of “I Summon You” done solo by Britt in a taping for us.
Inside sources indicated to us that a new Spoon album may or may not be expected in late summer/fall of this year. Of course, this new Spoon album was also expected this spring. And last fall. We’ll believe it when we see it.
