Dallas, Texas on a Monday is probably just as nuts as your regular all night Saturday bender in any other small town. Hi-octane. Supersized & Mega-mixxed. They do it Texas-style here & we aimed to please.
1st show of the tour, so lot of bugs to be worked out. I broke guitar strings, 3 drum sticks and my kick pedal - but still managed the 3 point landing in the end. Anita is pulling double duty, crushing the guitar in our set and singing with The Shins - so I have nothing to complain about. Wuss. Pats on all backs for tonights show.
Started inexplicably blowing an air-horn every night - for some reason.
Shins played great as usual. Lots of family around and got to meet James parents. Love them dearly. Afterwards, there was an odd “dance party”
coming from their dressing room, apparently just the 5 Shins dancing alone together - went to join them, but we had to feign in order to see long lost friends. Touring is a reunion like no other.
Bottles chipped and cheered. Salute. 1st show fantastic. Now eat some meat and drive.
Delicious meat.
