You can see the sets on-air, but we asked Morningwood to run around with us on a photo tour of the studio and what stuff really looks like here.
Everyone has to go through a metal detector before they go into the studio, and walk past the signs with the “studio rules” - they say things like “no masticating of gum” and “don’t pet the MTV”. Morningwood’s body piercings set the metal detector off.

More after the jump.
Then we went back into the gear storage area - strictly marked “employees only”. The employees were kind of weirded out by us taking this photo, but what’s a tour without seeing the storage area?

The most popular part of the studio, with the crew at least, is the break room. They’d just replenished it with fresh food. We asked Chantel to stick her finger in it. We’ll show everyone the picture where we all spit in the salad later.

This blurry picture is the control room. Imagine staring at all those tiny screens for 24 hours.

This hallway is where everyone seems to loiter and stand, because it’s the entry way to studio B (the small studio where Aziz and Fred Armisen played Guitar Hero) and to the green room. Shortly after this picture was taken the crew made everyone clear out so cameras could run down the hall.

We shoved all of Morningwood into the famous TRL photobooth. We had to wait for Fred Armisen to clear out though before taking this picture. Everyone who visits MTV for anything takes a picture in this photobooth. Seriously, from Mariah Carey to Janet Reno, lots of famous asses have been in here.

The best part of the studio are the huge windows looking out into Times Square. At this time of night the neon lights out there are so bright that it still seems like daylight. Frankly, it’s kind of creepy…until you stand there and wave at someone on the sidewalk who desperately wants to be inside.
