Hey Scenesters! (har har) Did we mention that we got lucky last week? Yeah, well, we did. Not only did we get to kick around for a couple days in rainy London (home of tan nylons and shepherd’s pie)… we also got all up in the faces of UK band, The Cribs when they headlined a show at the Astoria with openers The Thermals.
We hadn’t had the pleasure of swapping sweat with such an energetic and, um, crowd-surfing audience in a long while. Those Brits really know how to rock… They got extra psyched when guitarist/vocalist, Ryan, took his shirt off.
Anyway, when we asked the Cribs what it’s like to be in a band of all brothers, here’s what bassist/vocalist Gary Jarman told us:
“We are equally cursed and blessed. Blessed in the regards that you always have people around who you can bounce ideas off, that have the same taste as well as ethos and background etc as you do. The flip-side is that you take things more personally, which can lead to you becoming more withdrawn and insular as a group… and you’re in it for life, no choice there.”
The photo above is by camera master James Looker, but here, how about some photos by us? Don’t feel weird about commenting on how great they are…
