Amazingly, this is Tokyo Police Club’s fourth video (of three songs) from a seven song EP. Yes, their songs are just that good that good.
This video comes across as a nod to the aesthetic of the shoegaze videos - Chapterhouse would be perfectly comfortable standing on the set. It is directed by Kyle Davison, who has quite a varied video career for Canadian bands like Hot Hot Heat, the Sam Roberts Band, Matthew Good, Theory of a Deadman, Hedley and an emo band called Mariana’s Trench who we’ve become sickly obsessed with Googling.
There’s a mind control/kidnapping subplot at work in the video, which fits into the song’s paranoid guitar/hand clap dynamic. After you watch this, Google Project MKULTRA and give yourself a real fright.
