File this one under wild speculation but does anyone else think Interpol front man Paul Banks displays all the classic markers of a serial killer, according to Showtime's Dexter? Aside from actually killing people, which we assume he hasn't, Paul seems to display a lot of the symptoms of antisocial personality disorder. Some examples:
* lack of empahty for the problems of others: in all Interpol interviews and videos Paul presents himself as quiet and emotionless, distanced from his current circumstances. Their new video for "No I in Threesome" is an excellent demonstration.
* risk-seeking behavior and substance abuse: who could forget the infamous Blender interview circa Interpol's first album when Paul locked himself in the bathroom of the 21 Club and passed out. Subsequently, rumor has it, the fire department were called to remove the door and extract him.
* strong id and ego, overpowering the superego: wrote a song called "No I in Threesome."
Ok, so we're not psychologists and if you read the actual diagnostic criteria for antisocial personality disorder it's obvious Paul does not fit the profile, but that was a more fun than average way to let you know there's a new Interpol video. Watch it.
We're not suggesting you watch this to familarize yourself with M.I.A. We're not even suggesting you watch it to find out what continent Darfur is in. Watch it because...
Do you remember that fake network in Reality Bites that Ben Stiller's character worked for? Called "In Your Face TV" that was a faux MTV? Fascinatingly, this looks exactly like what they produced from Winona/Lelaina's documentary.
The lauded day is almost upon us - this Sunday late night/early Monday morning Bjork will be our guest on Subterranean. Do make sure you tune in. Fun fact - the interview was shot on the set of her new video for "Wanderlust", to be released in October(ish) so not only do you get to see the fabulous Bjork but you'll get a bit of a sneak peek at her next video.
And speaking of sneak peeks...
The smarty-pants over at mtvU named The Cool Kids one of their Freshman 5 picks this semester. Put your eyes on the video now before every college kid out there is way ahead of you.
We love Calvin Harris. By extension, we love the video playlist he put together for us! And we learned so much about Calvin from his comments on the videos. Kings of Leon are his "favourite band", he thinks that PB&J track is "catchy", Aphex Twin made the "scariest video in the world", and that while he loves "Race for the Prize" by the Flaming Lips he hasn't bought the song yet.
See all of this and so much more. Really. So much. Calvin's video playlist is like hitting shuffle on your iPod and then in the middle of your favorite song something random comes up and you're like "how'd that get on there?"
Your exhausted Subterranean blogger is out of the country at the moment and so was unable to attend the Bjork (with Klaxons opening!) show at Madison Square Garden in New York last night, but we did manage to send a real, professional photographer who captured some stunning images. Enjoy!

More images and video after the jump.

Before there was the Polyphonic Spree, Tim DeLaughter had a Dallas band called Tripping Daisy. You may remember their mid-90s radio hit "I Got A Girl," but the truth of the matter is that, at the time, pretty much every band from north Texas were just trying to be the Flaming Lips and Tripping Daisy were the leaders of that pack. We'll just say they were no Mazinga Phaser.
At any rate, we've dusted off their 120 Minutes worthy claymation video for "Blown Away" - er, if it's not 120 worthy it's at least Beavis & Butthead worthy.
See Sunday's Subterranean again if you liked it that much (or missed it on TV) with new videos from New Young Pony Club, You Say Party! We Say Die!, and The Chemical Brothers as well as an online bonus playlist of great artists who we think are under appreciated.
Pitchfork gave White Rabbits' debut album an 8.1. What else do you need to know to make you watch this video?
Just kidding, we know you're smarter than that. It's also a really excellent song. Kind of a mediocre video.
