Someone counted wrong or something, but yes Virginia there will be an episode of Subterranean airing this Sunday night. We've tossed in a few clips you'll be seeing on New Years Eve when we, in conjunction with vLES, take over MTV2 on New Years Eve. Tune in both nights and we'll try to rock you like a hurricane (or lull you like a pacifier). Tune in to both or face being sorry you missed all the action.

Mark your calendars now, the newly launched version of DeathCabForCutie.com advises us that in May the guys will have a new album. We ganked this studio footage but still recommend you head to the DCFC website to get your full DCFC experience.

Between Vampire Weekend and Chester French we predict the Urban Outfitters spring 08 catalogue is going to be all button-downs, flat front khakis and dock shoes.

And while the Vampire Weekend corner is more Paul Simon/Talking Heads/clever lyrics, the Chester French corner is more that link between Vampire Weekend and Kanye West...with clever lyrics.

Our wish for 2008 is for an Ivy League throw-down between Vampire Weekend and Chester French. Columbia vs. Harvard. Bring it.

A couple of weeks ago the fine folks in Nada Surf and Barsuk Records invited us to come to the taping of their new video for "Whose Authority". We caught up with them in NYC's Lower East Side for a few location shots and now we get to share a sneak peek at the video with you before it comes out in January (with their new album to follow in Feb).

The video follows a day in the life of an NYC bike messenger, who is played by Michael Maronna - you might remember him as big Pete from The Adventures of Pete & Pete. The Nada guys spend the whole day crossing paths with him in various locations.

We, like you apparently, thought some of the things that made it into the Subterranean top videos of 2007 were kinda...kooky. So we encourage you to make your own top 10 and post it here. We'll start you off by posting our picks for the top 10 videos of 2007, based entirely upon our own opinion but within the parameters of the video vote list we made available to you.

If you, like us, have checked out of life already and are just killing time until they let you leave for the holidays, please point your browser to this Ho Ho Holidays video playlist we created for our friends at mtvU.

It contains such holiday classics as David Bowie & Bing Crosby's awkward duet on "Little Drummer Boy", Snoop's amazing rendition of "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto", the saddest Christmas song ever from The Pretenders, and of course RuPaul doing "Santa Baby".

Have a very messed up winter solistace or whatever you celebrate.

No, not their own offices and not The Office - Chicago band Office would be the office we're referring to in this instance.

Things we learned from this article:

* Office drummer Erica Corniel describes their music as "jihad surf". We do not know why.

* In 2005 Chicago was not embracing the fun side of music. No word on if they have corrected that in 2007.

* If you don't like beef jerky and Corn Nuts, avoid Montana.

You voted and we counted. Then we counted again because this year held another surprise at #1. Head to MTV.com to see our top 20 of 2007, with the mighty Pinback taking the top honor for their "From Nothing to Nowhere" video.

We were also surprised to see: not one but two Interpol videos, Chin Up Chin Up in at #19, The Shins making the list but not breaking the top 10 and Battles sneaking their way in at #9.

Thanks for all your votes and hope you enjoyed the countdown! If you tune in to MTV Hits at the dates & times below you'll see 15 of the top 20 all over again. Viva la 2007.

MTV Hits, all times EST: 12/18 7A @ 3P, 11P; 12/21 @ 9A, 5P, 1A;  12/23 @ 6A, 2P, 10P.

Those kooky kids at mtvU filmed their last Backstage Pass of 2007 with Band of Horses. Funny because we were just debating making BoH our personal #1 album of the year.

And speaking of things that ruled in 2007, make sure you tune in on Sunday night for the Best of 2007 countdown on Subterranean. We'll have the top 20 videos here on Monday.

Remember when The Raveonettes had that jam out a few years ago called "That great Love Sound"? It was all & only the best bits of upbeat noirish 60's garage rock pumped up with the power of a modern Marshall stack. It was brilliant and beautiful.

Those great Danes are back with a new sound now. They've scrapped the 'love sound' for the 'Dead Sound' now and all & only the best bits of downbeat noirish 60's garage rock pumped up with the power of a modern Marshall stack. The more things change the more they stay the same.
