You already know we’re way excited about the new Death Cab album in May 08 - and today we read a quote that makes us even more unsure about how the album will sound, but more excited to hear it. Chris Walla tells Billboard, “It’s really got some teeth. The landscape of the thing is way, way more lunar than the urban meadow sort of thing that has been happening for the last couple of records.”
Speaking of, we’re listening to the new Chris Walla record right now and it’s fantastic and lovely. You’ll be seeing him as a guest on Subterranean in February and should get the record when Barsuk release it on January 29. We believe we’ve mentioned before that you should download this free MP3 from the album.
Our favorite originally from Athens, GA band, the B-52’s, will release Funplex on Astralwerks on March 25th. For those of you not based in NYC they played a raging show with The Rapture this past Halloween and we’ve been revved up to hear their new stuff since then. In fact, we’ve got a sneak peek at their album art for you.
While we’re on Athens - we got to go to a little listening party for the new R.E.M. album, Accelerate, due out on April 1. We heard about five songs and can tell you it is their most accessible work since 1994’s Monster. It’s got some real rockers and at least one amazing, cry me a river ballad.
Finally, our biggest excitment is all saved up for Santogold. Finally coming out in April.
