After exchanging some some early Bowie and Scott Walker records and discovering their common musical world-views, it seems two wheels in the UK hype machine decided to get together and make themselves a machine. A machine called The Last Shadow Puppets.
Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kayne formerly of Monkeys opening band the Little Flames and currently of buzz band the Rascals have recorded a side project together and we’re pleased to bring you the premiere of their video for “The Age of the Understatement”.
The video is anything but understated and was helmed by French director Romain Gavras, whose work you may have seen on DJ Medhi’s “Signatune” and Simian Mobile Disco’s “I Believe”. The video was shot in Moscow over two days and, yes, they did rent the Red Army to use as extras.
