Ok, so the thing about this piece that drives us nuts is strictly semantics. We fall into the group of people who insist that punk rock only existed between 1974-1979 and everything after is post-punk, noise rock, what have you. MTV News feel free to call the bands of today lo-fi punk. We’re going to split the diff and refer to them as noise rock.
Regardless of where you fall in the punk semantics debate, do check out the MTV News piece on these bands - video embedded below but there’s an excellent written story as well. No Age come off as the brainiest, Times New Viking are the “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”-est and the other bands look kinda sweaty. We’re still not down with Jay Retard. Wanna change our minds?
