We’ve been thinking about calling this video out since we first saw it. Today’s the day.
“Don’t You Evah” is easily our favorite song on Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. It was love at first listen. When we heard there was finally going to be a video for it there was much rejoycing in our minds.
Then we saw the video.
The girl from “The Paper” has better looking pieces on her YouTube channel than this video. It could be a sweaty tour film type thing (the sort of video Wilco managed to perfect circa Yankee Hotel Foxtrot) but the weird effects on it just make the whole experience feel detached and low quality.
Granted, Spoon have never excelled in the music video division of the indie rock Olympics but we were hoping for more than this. Like any fan, we hate when our favorite song gets the shaft and a phone-it-in treatment.
