In case you’ve been hiding your head under a rock, Hercules and Love Affair is this amazing Brooklyn act that the DFA are putting out - and working on, as Tim Goldsworthy co-produced the album with Antony on the vocals, but Pfork tells us that the real brains behind the operation are all Andrew Butler.
We’ve gotta tell you, last week around the Subterranean offices was a barrage of what our office-mate calls “homosexual dance rock” - we O.D.ed ourselves on the Cut Copy and M83 albums and the guy from down the hall who programs Logo’s “New Now Next” was constantly popping in to ask us again what label Heloise & the Savior Faire are on. There may have even been some old Erasure thrown on. Who knows.
So when we saw, a bit belatedly, that the Hercules video for “Blind” had hit the Internets we O.D.ed on it too. Strangely, we flash back to the early 90s, unlikely James Spader action vehicle “Stargate” when watching this music video. It’s all very futuristic Mayan temple.
