Our friends over at Logo reminded us of this video from The Dead Betties. Talk about psycho killers!

Sisters of Mercy are a goth band who we never want to meet alone in a dark alley. Their whole image is just so creepy. With these guys it all comes down to their super creepy styling -- the black hair, black attitudes and always bizarre cultural and visual references. They are the embodiment of dark goth.

Metric created one of our all time favorite horror music videos with "Monster Hospital." It has all the elements - bloody zombie band members, dreams of abduction by disembodied hands, gore oozing out of the walls in a nod to "The Shining," black & white film noir feel, blonde central female a la Alfred Hitchcock's famous aesthetics.

We dare any band to make a horror music video better than this one.

Here's a nice laundry list of the scary videos people emailed, Facebooked and MySpaced us while we were at lunch.

MTV News Rock Editor James Montgomery yelled at us about something to do with Tokio Hotel snorting pixie sticks. The entire exchange was scary but we decline to actually post that video because Tokio Hotel suck.

A friend emailed to remind us of the super scary video from our obsession band Malajube for "Fille à Plume." We had not even thought of that one!

And MTV West Coast emailed us to insist we remind you about the Evangelicals "Midnight Vignette" video that we aired last night. So we reminded them to actually watch Subterranean.

Think back to the style of horror in the 1980s - you had Jason, Freddy, the later Halloween movies. It was all very pulpy, lo-fi and loaded with uncomfortable sexuality. In that spirit we bring you the video for "The Scarlet Thing In You" (blood, right?) from Bauhaus frontman-turned-solo-artist Peter Murphy. Based on his prior work CV alone, Murphy is the godfather of goth and therefore anything he touches turns to spiderwebs.

This particular video isn't exactly a frightfest but it does have some unsettling moments and elements of campy horror that we appreciate.

It's Halloween, finally! Today we'll bring you nothing but scares. First up: watch last night's Halloween-y epsidoe of Subterranean on MTV.com and see the Cold War Kids talk about their childhood costumes, scariest videos and why the movie "It" should never be watched alone. We tossed some extra scaretastic videos on the playlist but check back all day for some more obscure, frightening music videos.

Plus our very favorite Halloween video this year, Mogwai's "Batcat." Seriously, it scares the crap out of us in a way we like very much.

All everyone we know can talk about is either Halloween or when the gosh darned election will be OVER already and if we can in some way speed up the voting process.

In that spirt, we were just emailed this trailer for Iran's (side project of TVOTR members) new EP, out on November 4. We suggest you watch it...if you're a real American.

Is it Halloween yet? via Pitchfork and Stereogum

Did you go to that reunion/final tour thing that The Police did? We have a strict policy against reunion shows so luckily there's a DVD available so you can live the magic all over again. Or for the first time.

If you're curious, the Police member we're most likely to make out with is Stewart Copeland. Hands down.

Have a little preview of some of the CMJ coverage we'll offer in our specials airing the week of 11/3 - MTV News followed CMJ buzz band Passion Pit around the world and back again.
