If Fleet Foxes is just a bit too much and you'd like to look to cultivate an appreciation for Bonnie "Prince" Billy then we suggest this Horse Feathers video.

Our friends at Rhapsody gave us the heads up on this video going like of Ezra Koenig singing with F***ed Up in a basement. Yeah, those are some legendary punk covers from Blitz and the Descendents. We always suspected Vampire Weekend were heavy into the Descendents but DAMN at the Blitz song!

As per the usual Subterranean will be pre-empted this week due to the holidays. While we're sad as always not to have a show for you, we're excited because we do still have a podcast.

This week Courtney and Lyndsay (who books the guests on Subterranean) sat down to tell some of their favorite stories from the show. Both ladies started working on Subterranean right around Thanksgiving 2005 and talk about their favorite bands, the reasons behind the guests on the goth & brit pop specials and maybe a horror story or two.

If you'd like to rewatch the episodes they talk about then feel free to take a stroll into the Subterranean online archive on MTV.com.

All that plus new music from Au Revoir Simone, Woodhands, Maus Haus and The Secret History.

Cassettes Won't Listen is back this week to answer your burning DIY music questions...

Steeped In Color asks: How do I get my CD in stores?

That is a great question and, contrary to popular belief, people still do travel to their local record stores to buy those little pieces of plastic otherwise known as "CDs". But my advice is: be careful!

Just a bit of where the industry is currently at. In 2007, CD and DVD sales dropped 13% while digital sales climbed 34% from the previous year. So if sales continue as they are, you're plastic disc sitting on a store shelf won't be worth much to anyone besides your mother.

Regardless, there are two ways to get your music into stores. Either by being signed to a record label or by doing it yourself.  Let's stick to DIY.

The main person you'll want to become friends with at your local shop is called "the buyer."  This person is responsible for bringing in all of the music that you see on their shelves.  They are responsible for keeping their ear to the ground and knowing the local music scene along with keeping relationships with distributors in order to bring in CDs from the labels. All you have to do is call up your store and ask to talk to their buyer, let them know you have a CD coming out and would like to know if they have interest in stocking a few.  It will help if you have any local or national press, history of touring, or upcoming shows to talk about. Otherwise convincing them that the CD will sell may be a bit tough and I would advise to go back and build a fan base to strike the buyers attention. You can go ahead and repeat this process for as many stores as you wish but please stick to indie stores as you won't have much luck at Best Buy or Wal-mart.

Once in stores it is your responsibility to stay on top of accounting. You won't be able to sit back and watch the checks come rolling in so once your CD sells it is up to you to collect the money. I'm not advising to call the store everyday but once every 60-90 days isn't terrible.

If you're having problems getting your CD into stores, that probably means you haven't done enough leg work to get the public interested.  I know, I know, your latest CD is hot fire and genre destroying and was even produced by the guy who broke Bloc Party. But that doesn't mean shit if there are no fans to buy the music. Get out there and get heard, let the record store take their cut when you can afford it.

Thank you for your question. That's it for this week, leave a question in the comments and I'll get back at ya.

Except not really cos they were joking. You all knew that though, right? Watch it all over again at Subterranean on MTV.com. Hey, while you're there vote for the best Sub videos of 2008!

Lots of bonus interview clips from Lykke Li too - it was like we had two guests.

Leave us little notes and chocolates letting us know what you thought of those Woodies performances, mmkay?

Let's all hop in my VW van and take a little trip back to the late '60s, shall we? While we at Subterranean do endorse this oddball video from Golden Animals, we still do not endorse dirty, dirty hippies. Do not be a hippie. Unless you're the hot one in MGMT. Then it is fine.

Tune in tonight on MTV2 at 1AM ET/midnight CT for our special Woodies edition of Subterranean as hosted by the always endearing Tokyo Police Club. The brought a Fisher Price tape recorder with them. We have no idea why.

Plus we'll bring you Woodies nominee videos, Woodies performances and immeasurable joy. In fact, here's another behind the scenes at the Woodies with Lykke Li right after she performed - go watch her performance at the Woodies website.

And a little bit of gossip from us: remember our blink-182 conversation? Turns out certain members (but not all members) of Vampire Weekend are huge fans and were, at first, too shy to talk to Mark Hoppus, who was introducing a band on the show and sitting two seats away from them. Eventually they caved and we heard that Hoppus was backstage later, talking about his new friends Vampire Weekend. Adorable, we love.

MTV News have posted a really good package of Vampire Weekend and Chromeo rehearsing for mtvU's Woodie awards last week. We know it's really good cos we were there the whole time as VW's talent escorts and they caught things we didn't even realized had happened!

The Woodies air tonight on mtvU and hit the Internets on mtvU.com - catch this Vampire-Chromeo mash-up performance on Thursday night's Subterranean as well, which will be a Woodies Edition with guests (and Woodie of the Year nominees) Tokyo Police Club.

MTV News also got great behind the scenes segs with performers Lykke Li (who collabs with Q-Tip on "Can I Kick It?") and the Cool Kids (who did it up with this guy who's kind of terrible, but maybe the next Eminem or so people keep telling us, Asher Roth)

What could be better on a harsh winter day than a new Damien Jurado video? We're so thrilled to bring you the premiere of "Caskets" which lives up to it's name - you start with a Damien Jurado staple of some found sound that implies winds whipping across a prairie; skip ahead a bit to some 1800's-style frightening surgery and wrap up with dead man in the ground which fades into a bed on fire. All beautifully shot and extremely compelling when paired with the song.

Kind of sums the day up, doesn't it? Tune in to Subterranean this Thursday late night on MTV2 at 1AM ET/midnight CT to see this video run again on your TV - we call it double the experience.

If you didn't hear already, mtvU's Woodie awards will debut online Wednesday night at 8PM ET. mtvU snuck us a clip of Santi clearing up the name hoax thing backstage at the awards.

More clips to come tomorrow!
